About the new Black Yak Fold Top

Some of you guys may remember we used to make a black edition of our most versatile piece of kit. The gorgeous vegetable-tanned black yak combined with a black bovine frame is a piece that will turn heads for life.

Yak leather is an incredible material with a sturdy and lively outer layer. Last year one of our Finnish tannery suppliers announced they would end the tanning of yak leather as they reorganized their operation. Therefore we are forced to phase out the yak leather as a material for our Fold Top. When we heard about it, we stocked up on yak leather and we still have a batch of black yak leather for making this pack.

Stylish for city use. Sturdy for forest hiking. Easily big enough for a weekend trip. Compact to carry on as cabin luggage. Its ergonomics are designed to keep it comfortable even after full days of carrying heavier loads.

The leather’s excellent properties have been taken in advance in design. We have used vegetable-tanned yak and cow leather in places where their properties excel. The sturdy cow leather is used for the frame that gives the bag its structure, the soft yet tenacious yak is used in the folding part of the bag.

A detachable computer sleeve is included in the price. The sleeve attaches only at the top to let the bag conform to the shape of your back. It also works as padding when the bag is packed full. The pack has many external attachment points for external gear like camera tripods, fishing rods, or camping gear.

The preorder and can be canceled within 14 days or turned into a Kasperi gift card of the same value at any time.

When the product is ready and available for finalization we notify you via email so you can finalize your purchase and we get the product shipped.

Materials

The frame of the bag is made of German excellent vegetable-tanned bovine leather from SOHRE and the folding part is made of Mongolian yak leather that is vegetable tanned in Kokkolan tannery, Finland. We get proprietary laser-cut buckles made in Finland. The proprietary D-rings are also custom-made in Finland. The roller buckles come from Sweden. Rivets and threads come from Italy.
