The Firenze Collection is made in our workshop in Finland from vegetable-tanned leather from the renowned Santa Croce sull’Arno district near Florence. The classic deep racing green tone reflects the colors of the city and develops a beautiful darker olive patina with use. The collection is made in limited numbers and built for lifelong, everyday use.

Wild Swimmer

Wild swimming and sauna bathing are unbeatable ways to spice up your life. The human body is made to viscerally react when exposed to the elements. Already in 400 BCE, the ancient Greeks used cold water for relaxation and healing.

The heart of the set is the Lapuan Kankurit Meri linen terry towel. This is no ordinary towel. It's an experience. Absorbent and coarse, it scrubs the skin, further boosting blood circulation and enhancing the benefits of cold water dips. Made from ecological 70% linen and 30% cotton, this Finnish-made towel is long-lasting and only gets better and more comfortable with use. With the supplied utility straps, you'll be able to hang the towel on the outside of your pack to air out after your dip.

This is our go-to set for most of our day hikes, from the Nordic woods to the Finnish archipelago. The Field Barista set includes two short utility straps, the Kasperi Puukko, Coffee Pot + Coffee, and the Kuksa. The simple brewing process creates a full-bodied and creamy coffee. The Firenze Connection

A few years ago we visited our leather tanners in Italy to better understand the materials and the people behind them. The continuity of the tanning craft in Santa Croce sull’Arno dates back to 1824. 200 years later, we're visiting them directly during our time in Florence for Pitti Uomo, hosted by our friends at Captain Santors at Manifattura Tabacchi. We wanted to mark that link with a collection made from leather tanned just outside Florence.

We named it the Firenze Collection, a shared name for Florence in Italian and Finnish, and a nod to the place that has influenced this chapter of our work. Made in our own workshop in Finland, it reflects what we value most: strong structures, great carrying comfort and materials chosen to develop character over time. Produced in limited numbers, it is meant to be used, repaired and carried for a long time, not just for a season.

Use & Care

How should I care for my leather backpack?

You can start using your backpack straight out of the box. Leather works well even in bad weather conditions, and getting wet is fine as long as it is properly cared for. Of course, the harder the use, the faster the patina, but that only adds character to the pack.

Treat the leather lightly with wax every 4-6 months, or when the leather feels dry. Wipe the leather clean, spread a thin layer of wax with a cloth, let it absorb overnight and polish off the remainder with a cotton or wool cloth. The scent of tar will fade away in a couple of days. If a lot of wax is applied, this will take longer.

We recommend natural products such as beeswax products or natural oils. Synthetic leather protection can block the pores of the leather. This can reduce the leather's ability to absorb wax and oils, ultimately reducing the lifespan of the backpack.

How long is the break-in period of the leather backpack?

We believe that leather is the best material for backpacks because it conforms to our bodies over time and can last for decades while remaining in good condition.

Like all high-quality leather goods, Kasperi backpacks also have a break-in period. It will take a couple of weeks of active use for the shoulder straps to start forming to your body. If you experience any pressure points, squeeze the straps lightly with your hands at the pressure points to help them form faster.

Closing and opening the G-buckles is also stiff at first. As the leather loops soften and form over time, it will become fluid.

With proper care and use, these packs develop a unique patina and become more personal by the day.

What about repairs or service?

We believe in the right to repair. Every aspect, from structure to material thickness, is considered with repairability in mind. Because our bags are designed to last for decades, they will require servicing at some point.

The hardest-wearing parts, such as the shoulder straps, are made from 3mm leather for longevity and the whole structure is designed with serviceability in mind.
