This is our take on the quintessential Finnish puukko, a utilitarian knife made for handling a large variety of tasks.
At Kasperi we believe the things we produce should last for life. Items should cultivate a special connection with their users. After the popular collaboration in 2020 with Roselli - we came together to create the second edition of the Explorer Set.
In our 2022 collaboration, we created the Kasperi Puukko, our vision of the quintessential Finnish utility knife paired with a Firesteel, crafted by Roselli. Now in natural tan leather!
For Finns the puukko is the original multitool. The skill of using a puukko in versatile ways safely is not only useful but also a great source of joy. In Finnish tradition, the puukko is used for absolutely everything. It was used for preparing a fire, carving, making shelters for the night, preparing a meal, and eating. The Kasperi Puukko is made to cultivate these wilderness skills.
Optional addition: Roselli axe, short w/ Kasperi custom sheath
We still have a limited quantity of these Roselli's travel Axes available to add to your Puukko order. The axe with a shorter handle is an effective wood-cutting tool, whether used while camping or at the summer cottage. The wide blade angle prevents the axe from getting stuck, and in addition to woodcutting, it can be used for whittling as well. This special edition comes with a Kasperi custom-made Cognac-brown German SOHRE Tanneries vegetable-tanned leather sheath to protect the edge. The axe handle is made from birch and is stained and coated with linseed oil to ensure a firm grip, even when wet.

Usage instructions
How to make a fire with the Roselli Firesteel
The Firesteel is housed in the tailored sheath along with the Puukko. The firesteel is a tool with which you can create sparks for creating a fire. The firesteel is used with the backside of the knife to strike sparks on a prepared “primer” tinder - for example, dry birch bark that is rasped with a knife to create a flammable kindling. Once you get the kindling ignited, it is gradually fed with larger sticks until you have a campfire.
How to take a good care of your Puukko to make it last for life?
UHC steel offers unparalleled blade performance, yet this also means that the blade should be handled with care. The hardness of the steel means that small rocks in between the blade and wood can cause blade edge damage. Edge damage can be refurbished easily by a knife smith or by sending the knife to Roselli's included lifetime sharpening service. Therefore we recommend that when batoning (splitting wood with the knife), take care that you always use the knife on the clean side of the log and take care to not drop the knife on rocks or other hard surfaces. For corrosion protection rinsing the blade from any saltwater, then drying and oiling the blade is the best practice. By keeping your blade clean and oiled, you'll make sure the blade will stay sharp and strong for ages.
This product includes Roselli's lifetime sharpening service. So in case your blade needs refurbishing, just ship the product, and Roselli will take care of it!
