About the (first) new Black Yak Fold Top

Some of you guys may remember we used to make a black edition of our most versatile piece of kit. Now it's back, and this is the first one. The waiting list for the pre-orders is open as we are still waiting for confirmation on leather orders from our suppliers. But this piece, this singular piece of gorgeous black Yak leather from Kokkolan tannery and Italian Puccini tanneries sturdy and lasting vegetable-tanned bovine leather can be yours now. Just make sure you act quick! 

Yak leather is an incredible material with a sturdy and lively outer layer. Last year one of our Finnish tannery suppliers announced they would end the tanning of yak leather as they reorganized their operation. Therefore we are forced to phase out the yak leather as a material for our Fold Top. When we heard about it, we stocked up on yak leather and we still have a batch of black yak leather for making this pack.

Stylish for city use. Sturdy for forest hiking. Easily big enough for a weekend trip. Compact to carry on as cabin luggage. Its ergonomics are designed to keep it comfortable even after full days of carrying heavier loads.

The leather’s excellent properties have been taken in advance in design. We have used vegetable-tanned yak and cow leather in places where their properties excel. The sturdy cow leather is used for the frame that gives the bag its structure, the soft yet tenacious yak is used in the folding part of the bag.

A detachable computer sleeve is included in the price. The sleeve attaches only at the top to let the bag conform to the shape of your back. It also works as padding when the bag is packed full. The pack has many external attachment points for external gear like camera tripods, fishing rods, or camping gear.

Materials

Made from high-quality vegetable-tanned leather. The frame of the bag is made of Tuscan Puccini tannery’s excellent vegetable-tanned sturdy cow leather and the folding part is made of Mongolian yak leather that is vegetable tanned in Kokkolan tannery, Finland.
