G.05 Field Glove - A classic in the making

Introducing the G.05 Field Glove — a testament to Kasperi’s dedication to well-made, versatile, and unique tools crafted for life. Designed with rugged outdoor use in mind, the G.05 Field Glove is made from 1 mm vegetable-tanned Finnish Whitetail deer leather, offering a rare blend of character, protection, finesse, and durability that stands out in its class.

With only a limited quantity of this wild, Finnish vegetable-tanned Whitetail deer leather available, just a few hundred pairs of these gloves will be made—until we run out of the material.

Unlined and constructed with exterior seams, these gloves are made to feel comfortable against the skin. The 1 mm deer leather takes a couple of weeks to break in, settling into it's intended fit—and only getting better with use. Over time, the grain on the inner surface naturally wears into a suede-like texture, enhancing grip and making the gloves even more effective in a variety of conditions.

A brass ring allows you to attach the gloves to your backpack or belt loop with a carabiner, ensuring they’re always within reach—wherever your adventures take you.

Experience a glove built to meet the demands of the field and evolve with you—developing a fit that becomes uniquely yours over time.

Background

From the Work Glove to the Field Glove

Over the years, we’ve worked with dozens of different vegetable-tanned leathers. Some stood out — and the idea of a pair of field gloves was born. The search for a workshop capable of handling the task began, and we made our first prototypes already three years ago. Through meticulous design and testing, we arrived at a glove that not only meets but exceeds our high standards.

Drawing from the heritage of the classic work glove, the idea behind the Field Gloves is simple: a material that forms to your hand and improves with use. While thicker leather offers protection, the soft, unlined deer leather brings remarkable finesse. Over time, the glove softens, relaxes, and becomes even more supple. This isn’t just a work glove — it’s a glove that balances protection with dexterity and comfort, made to handle the elements without compromising feel.

Finding a workshop up to the task took time — three years, in fact. Eventually, we found the right partner. Made in the storied glove-making region of Pécs, Hungary, these gloves are the result of a long search for a maker who shares our commitment to quality and could meet the challenge of working with such unique materials. The G.05 Field Glove is a testament to Kasperi’s dedication to true craftsmanship

Sizing and fit

Sizing and Fit

Choose your size based on the size table. Don't be afraid of the toughness at first, once these gloves break-in, they will be like no other. Note that size XL is for hand circumference 25.5.

Care and Break-in

Care and Break-in

These gloves are crafted from unlined 1mm vegetable-tanned leather, selected for its balance of durability and formability. This also means the gloves will take a couple of weeks of use to settle into their intended fit. Like a good pair of raw denim jeans, the fingers begin to crease for a more individualised fit in length, and the leather softens, becoming supple with use.

Unlined leather is ideal for a glove designed to feel like a second skin. Over time, it will conform to your hands, enhancing both fit and flexibility.

Maintain your gloves with periodic waxing to replenish the leather. For wax we recommend the Kasperi Leather Wax or another beeswax based natural leather wax.

Leather Gloves

Great looking well made gloves.
But I think they could be slightly longer in the wrist area. For me they are a bit on the short side. I have had many gloves in the past being a outdoorsman and being ex military.
It’s never been a noticeable thing with other gloves that I’ve worn in the past. And the shortness made the gloves feel wrong, when I wore them for the first time. Also they are very long in the thumb for some reason. Which I noticed is tricky, when you try to pick things up.
Would I recommend these gloves.
Yes I would.
BUT!
They are very expensive for what they are.
And I have had better fitting gloves much cheaper.

Quality of leather disappointing

This was not my first Kasperi purchase and up until now the quality has always been very good. I ordered these gloves and when I received them I was quite surprised by the quality of the gloves that I received. It seemed as if the leather was dried out and that it started popping in some places, instead of being soft and stretchy as I excepted. I will continue to purchase from Kasperi but will be careful with what I buy from now on.

Hi Aram,

Thank you for your review. Very sorry that you’ve had this experience. But I’d still like you to give it a shot, and offer you a 100-day full satisfaction guarantee here. Of course, if you’d prefer to return it right away for a full refund, that’s also possible. Just get in touch via email and I’ll send you the return label!

Let me explain:

The leather here is wild whitetail deer leather, gathered from Finnish hunting clubs between 2020–2022. We used this leather on around 300 of our Fold Top backpacks, and our customers still love theirs. Saw you are one of the lucky few who has one of these packs. Anyway the tannery that made this leather ceased operations, and because it is a “wild” leather, it was challenging from a production point of view. The organic differences in the hides made it hard to get an efficient yield of the large pieces we needed.

Since then, we’ve been looking for a way to make gloves out of the remaining whitetail deer leather we have. With the smaller pieces, we can get good cuts, but it still involves a lot of manual picking and matching. As far as we know, these are the only gloves in the world made out of this leather. So far, fewer than 100 pairs have been made, and we probably have enough leather for fewer than 300 pairs in total. After that, that’ll most likely be it, as we’re not aware of any tannery currently producing this leather to our specifications.

The leather’s natural properties mean the surface is a little more sensitive to scuffs, and it can have some marks or cracks already straight out of the tannery. Over time, the palm side of the glove will wear into a suede-like surface. That’s not a flaw, but a property—and it even improves grip as time goes on.

The leather itself is tenacious, but because it needs to be split and processed before manufacturing, it can feel a little stiff—not soft, and perhaps a little dry—right out of the box. We agree after the processing, which is kind of like ironing, it feels stiffer and drier than the leather we sent to the manufacturing in Hungary, or the backpacks we used to send out.

However, as with all Kasperis, it has a break-in time, and we’d really like you to give it a try. We’ve used these gloves a lot, and they do become soft—almost like a second skin—with time. They’ll also be naturally moisturised by your hands, or you can treat them with a beeswax-based product if you prefer.

If in 100 days’ time you still don’t like them, we’ll take them back for a full refund—no matter how much you’ve used them.

Kind regards,
Michael

I like them, but would not have bought if I had tried beforehand

I like the color, I like their aspect. The sizing is correct for my hand and fingers except for the thumb, which is unfortunately too long. The leather feels supple and they are indeed getting more comfortable over time.

I wish that the part that covers the wrist were a bit longer than what it currently is. But yeah, it was a new product and it was a gamble on my part to get it without trying it first, maybe if I'd gone a size smaller the leather would still have given over time, I don't know.

I have been using them as often as I can, but I bought them mostly for the way they look. If you're after functionality only, other gloves that are much cheaper will do just as fine.

But as I said, I bought them because of their color and because they match the material and tones of the green Kasperi bag I own.

I don't know how much it costs to have them produced in Hungary, but I believe that the gloves should probably be more expensive than the belt, and neither should be priced at a 150.

The two bags I own are totally worth the money they ask, the gloves and belt, I wouldn't say so, but I fully bought the two accessories for the way they look rather than intrinsic value. I attached the photos in natural sunlight so you can have a look, they do look nice, but it is up to you to decide if you also want to pay as much.

Beautiful and excellent quality.

The gloves are beautiful and of excellent quality, like the other products of Kasperi (I happily own two beautiful backpacks).

Wonderful material but fit not as expected

I love the look and material, but there is clearly a reason for specialized glove makers.

The sizing is strange and does not fit (fingers way too long). Stitching rough like workers gloves.

My 20 USD Carhart deer gloves are way better :-(
