Featured in MTV3 – Cultivating a culture of leathercraft
Kasperi was born from a passion for making things that last. Good design is something that can be passed down through generations.
Genuine craftsmanship deserves to be seen, appreciated, and understood. But in the age of digital shortcuts, we’ve seen misleading operators create an illusion of authenticity—while the real thing often gets buried. That’s why we were excited to welcome MTV3’s Huomenta Suomi and journalist Jonna Hellgren to our workshop last week to see what true, modern Finnish craft looks like.
In the segment, Jonna got to make a leather belt with her own hands in our workshop. You can watch the piece for free on Katsomo. And today, Monday, a second story also appeared in MTV3’s news and online.
Leathercraft Education in the National Spotlight
The MTV3 segment also highlights our new School of Leathercraft – a pilot program created together with Tavastia Vocational College. It’s a 4-month, part-time course worth 30 credits, where students learn the fundamentals of leatherworking both at Tavastia and in our workshop.
Our goal is to build a new culture of world-class craftsmanship in Finland. Students get real experience in a real production environment—making products that last and matter.
The next start date is August 18, 2025, and there’s still time to apply. The quality and number of applicants so far has exceeded our expectations. If you're curious, we recommend reaching out directly to Michael by phone: +358408698746 – that’s the fastest way to get into it.
